Palm says the Foleo offers five hours of battery life and can power on instantly. It has a 1024-by-600-pixel 10″ wide-screen display, a full-size keyboard, and also offers built-in 802.11b/g connectivity along with Bluetooth for pairing with a smartphone. It apparently lacks built-in 3G support, underscoring the device’s role as a smartphone companion. There’s 256MB of RAM, half of which is reserved for the OS, and it weighs in at 2.5lb. Other hardware details, including the CPU used, are not yet known. This device runs a version of the Linux operating system, and will be open to third party software. It will come

bundled with the Opera web browser and a version of DataViz’s Documents To Go, allowing users to create, view and edit Microsoft Office documents. Those wanting to use these Office documents to make presentations will be pleased to learn that the Foleo will have a VGA-out port. This device will be priced at $499.

Wonder how it will compare and compete with MID - “Mobile Internet Device” platform from Intel, which also runs on Linux. Personally I think I will go for MID, sporting full keyboard. BTW, if you didn’t know, MID have touch screen, which I consider a big plus.
