Mozilla labs is talking about plans to incorporate social networking into Firefox with The Coop. The idea behind The Coop is to allow users to keep track of their friends online. Users will be able to see their friends faces and by clicking on a friends picture get a list of their recently added Flikr photos, tagged websites, blog posts, favorite YouTube videos etc. Users can share items with friends by simply dragging an item onto a friends photo. When you receive something sent from a friend that

friends face will glow to let you know.

Mozilla has a wiki up with some mockups of what The Coop might look like. The site mentions a downloadable prototype but at last check it was unavailable. They’re still working on the code and encourage feedback on the design and code in their forums, if you’re interested give it a look see.

I think that using the browser as a centralized “profile” from a social networking standpoint is an awesome idea.
