With Splashtop you can read e-mail, chat with friends, or surf the Web seconds after pushing the power button!

Asus is the first to introduced the first motherboard, P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n, with support for Splashtop, they call Express Gate, a technology that allows a computer to quickly boot an embedded Linux-based operating system with some frequently used applications.
I think it would be nice to have this feature coming with notebooks, though for desktops guess it is
rather a cool feature. A year ago, the concept of a Web-only computer was a nonstarter for almost everyone, but with today’s Web-based apps it begins to make sense for a lot of users. Products using this technology, configured without Windows or hard drives, can be very capable workstations. I hope to see this technology being featured on motheboards that cost less than $200, as the above mentioned mobo from Asus costs a whooping $350.
